This is a stand alone service performed by a fully qualified Sports Therapist or a physiotherapist who has undergone further training in sports massage techniques.
The benefits of sports massage for athletes are clear, but it is not only athletes who can benefit from regular specific massage techniques.
We think nothing of having our car serviced regularly and we look after our cars bodywork to help it run better but we often neglect our own body's needs.
Regular fine tuning can make all the difference to our performance too! We are all prone to developing poor movement patterns and postural adaptations and as a result we develop muscular tightness, trigger point pain and stiffness. If left unchecked this can cause ongoing pain, loss of range of movement and reduction in function.
Sports massage can be used as a precursor to an event to wake up the body's muscular system and prepare it for the job required of it and it can also be used effectively after a demanding event to help ease muscles, improve lymphatic drainage and blood flow.
A variety of techniques will be applied during the session so please discuss your specific needs with the therapist.
