Alex Burch MCSP
I qualified from The Queens College, Glasgow in 1991. Initially I worked within the NHS rotating throughout orthopaedic, medical, surgical and hydrotherapy departments, before dipping my toes into private practice on a part time basis in Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes. I worked both in GP surgeries and sports injury clinics including the well known Blackberry Clinic in Milton Keynes. I expanded my private practice winning a G.P contract in Woburn Sands, providing physiotherapy for 6 doctors and their patients during the fund holding era. I really enjoyed this new challenge. It makes such a big difference seeing people quickly after initial injury, thus preventing the more chronic complications that occur when conditions remain untreated.
I returned to the NHS when we moved North in 2000, working in the outpatient department of the Queen Victoria Centre, Morecambe. In 2005, I began combining this NHS work with private practice clinics in both Lancaster and Milnthorpe.
My work as the physiotherapy provider at Sedbergh School began in 2005. I continue to work within a small medical team at the school which consists of a Sports Medicine doctor, myself and two nurses. Before working there I would not have believed just how varied and interesting this work with young adults would be, but it has been the some of the most rewarding and challenging of my career to date.
I opened Morecambe Bay Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2007. The clinic has grown quickly and developed a reputation with both clients, doctors and consultants for providing excellent physiotherapy services within Morecambe, Lancaster, Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale and the surrounding areas.
I strive to maintain my professional development as this is one of the best ways to provide you with the latest and most forward thinking advances within physiotherapy. Please see below for a list of recent courses I have completed.
