Chartered Physiotherapists.
All of us here at Morecambe Bay Physiotherapy are chartered physiotherapists. We are also registered members of the Health Professions Council HPC, Physiofirst, and those of us who practice acupuncture to complement our physiotherapy skills are also members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
We draw clients from a wide area: Morecambe, Heysham, Overton, Hest Bank, Bolton Le Sands, The Kellets, Carnforth and Lancaster areas, and as we provide the physiotherapy service for Sedbergh School we also see clients from further afield as well.

Chartered physiotherapists must train full time for at least three years to degree level and spend much of their training within NHS or private hospitals and a wide variety of clinical and sporting settings. The quality and high level of training we undertake is reflected in the fact that the NHS and most premiership football clubs only employ chartered physiotherapists.
Chartered physiotherapists cover a very broad curriculum which includes the areas of medicine, surgery, respiratory, intensive care, orthopaedics and rheumatology, musculo-skeletal outpatients, neurology, hydrotherapy, care of the elderly, paediatrics and more! Because of this broad knowledge base and in depth understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology we are best placed to accurately examine and treat patients using evidence based treatments rather than the latest fad!
We are also able to recognise red flags ( danger signs ), and we know when and where to refer you on to your doctor or a specialist consultant for further investigations swiftly.
Chartered physiotherapists continue to attend regular post graduate certificated courses recognised by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy so that we continue to work within our scope of practice.
Our training is open to audit by our professional body at any time.
Undergraduate Clinical Placements.
This clinic provides clinical placements and training for undergraduate chartered physiotherapy students from The University of Cumbria and The University of Central Lancashire. These can last from 1 - 6 weeks at a time. We hope you as the client will be happy to accommodate these students from time to time. This clinical experience is a vital part of their training, and they will really appreciate your support. If however you prefer not to have a student observing we will respect that. Just let your physio know at the time of your assessment.
